4th of July and Our New Flat!

Last week was quite crazy trying to get everything together in order for us to get the flat we wanted! But everything went well and we are now all moved in and happy in our new place! But before all that, Ian's co-workers decided to throw a 4th of July party!

Russ had us all over to his house and did up a BBQ for the 4th of July. It was a lot of fun, and nice to be able to actually celebrate it! We had delicious burgers, sausages, and chicken. I was also introduced to the South African jerky, which is WAY better than ours. It was a great day and it looks like Ian has just as awesome of a work group here as he did back home, which is definitely something to be excited about!

And the following day I went into the office with Ian, in order to sign the lease and in hopes of getting a call to meet up to get the keys. But I got a little anxious just waiting around, so Sabah recommended Borough Market to me - good place to grab lunch and fun to just walk around. This place is really quite awesome. Ian decided he needed to go on Saturday and that we should buy all that we would need from dinner there (our first dinner in the flat) but unfortunately our recipe wasn't as helpful as we thought. But it is still a lot of fun to walk around, test different foods and just stare at things we would never see at home.

Yes that is an animal leg and they are cutting the meat right in front of you. Its kind of amazing and again with the just staring because I never would have seen this before. Oh and those grilled cheese sandwiches smell and look amazing. When we went back on Saturday they had this other section with a huge thing of cheese under a grill in order to melt the top, which they then scraped off onto I think potatoes. It looked AMAZING! We are definitely going back to try it!

And of course, I need to share some photos of our new place. We got the keys late on Thursday and my aunt Mary helped me move all out suitcases and brought me to Ikea and Tesco's to pick up more things we needed which was wonderful. My pictures have the place still looking a bit messy as we try to find where everything belongs. I also couldn't get a good picture of the back room, but yes there is a spare room (no bed yet) but it is waiting for visitors! We are living in Maida Vale and very close to the center of London, which we are very happy about. We're still exploring the place and there are plenty of pubs around to check out, and we think we've already found one that might soon become a regular spot. But as we explore more I will be sharing here!
